Sickle cell disease is a red blood cell disorder. Cells look like a C and become hard or sticky. They die early, so people have a shortage of them. They can also get stuck in small vessels causing problems. Some symptoms include frequently ill, anemia, delayed puberty, swelling of feet and hands, and episodes of pain. This disease is inherited, its autosomal recessive. To cure it you'd need a blood and bone marrow transplant. You'd need a close genetic match to be a donor. You don't have to go down that path, you can always seek out management of the disease. .
Life expectancy is 20 years shorter than a healthy indivdual. This doesn't have to stop you from living an exciting life though!
